The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter's Training course is to provide youth who want to baby sit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Designed for your ages 11 to 15, the course helps participants develop leadership skills, build a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and guide children's behavior. Participants also learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Bring lunch for full day course or snack for half day courses.

Designed for children who are 8 to 10 years old. BAT teaches basic skills and knowledge necessary for children to identify and prevent potentially harmful situations, to be able to treat common injuries, and to respond in emergency situations. The program emphasizes prevention highlight its importance in reducing injuries. The participants manual uses coloring, games, puzzles for topics such as "All Choked UP", "Ouch", "Cautious Kids", and "Safe Wheels".

Designed for the individual who wishes to learn and CPR and Automated External Defibrillation skills for the adult. Participants are required to pass written and skills testing to receive certification. Certifications are valid for one year.

Designed for the individual who has taken Adult CPR/AED and needs to recertify. Participants should review skills from a current text before class. Participants will be required to pass skills and written testing to receive certification. Student is to bring their textbook to class. Certification is valid for one year.

Designed for the individual interested in learning rescue breathing, obstructed airway and CPR/AED for Children from one to 12 years and CPR for Infants from birth to one year. Certifications is valid for one year.

The Emergency Response program is based on the latest advances in first aid and CPR. The curriculum meets and exceeds 1995 Department of Transportation First Responder: National Standard Curriculum as well as ECC 2000 guidelines. Family Care giving Program has been designed to: Teach skills for caring for the elderly, chronically ill and disabled at home; Help organizations in the communities served by the American Red Cross provide services that benefit the growing senior population; and Prepare families to take on the responsibility and challenges of caring for a loved one at home.

Instructor Courses

Designed for those individuals who have experience in working with small animals, such as groomers, veterinarian technicians, kennel owners or those that have a desire to teach small animal care. There are no pre-requisites except that each candidate must be 17 years of age. The course will include instruction in the Mission and Fundamental Principles of the American Red Cross and how to teach an American Red Cross Course. Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will be given an Instructor Certification as a Pet First Aid Instructor.

This Instructor Course will incorporate the new ECC 2005 Guidelines for First Aid and CPR. Designed for individuals who wish to teach First Aid and CPR/AED for their place of employment or for the Community. It is recommended that Instructor Candidates enter this course with a current knowledge and current certification of Adult/Infant/Child CPR and First Aid and AED. A skill and written test will be given in the first session of class. Candidates must pass both the skill check and written test to continue in the course. STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL SESSIONS!!

Once full payment is made prior to the start of class, students should pick up the Fundamentals of Instructor Training manual from the Health Services Department at 2000 Century Drive, Worcester, MA, to review.

Upon successful completion of The American Red Cross Instructor Course, each candidate will receive an Instructor Certification, stamped and certified by the Central Massachusetts Chapter of the American Red Cross. It is strongly recommended that each Candidate co-teach with an experienced American Red Cross instructor before teaching on their own.

Must be at least 17 years of age on or before last scheduled session of the course. Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will be given an instructor authorization. It is recommended that each candidate co-teach with an experienced American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer instructor before teaching on their own.

NEW INSTRUCTOR COURSE! This course prepares instructor candidates to use course materials, conduct training sessions and evaluate the progress of participants in a basic level Babysitting Course. Instructor Candidates must be 17 years of age. The Babysitter’s Instructor Course will include a self-study of Fundamentals of Instructor Training which must be completed prior to the start of the class. Participants must pass a pre-course written exam with a minimum of 80 percent on the first day of class and successfully perform all skills. To be authorized as an Instructor each candidate must attend all sessions, successfully complete one practice-teaching assignment and pass the final written exam with a grade of 80 percent. Instructor Authorization is valid for two years. The cost of the course includes Instructor Manual, Participants Manual; FIT Manual; Instructor Authorization and Babysitter’s backpack. Each successful candidate will also have the opportunity to co-teach a class with an experienced American Red Cross Babysitting Instructor before teaching on their own.

Provides students with a strong knowledge base on HIV/AIDS and skills in separating facts from fiction and opinions. Includes NEW UPDATED American Red Cross HIV/AIDS Facts Reference Book.

Prepares participants to share accurate and up-to-date information about HIV/AIDS with a group without including personal opinions or using labels to describe people.
