Commonly Asked Questions:

Q. What is the difference between a Home Health Aide and a Certified Nurse Assistant?
Home Health Aide completes a 75-hour training program and receives a certificate. He or she then assists clients in their homes with basic, day-to-day activities.

A Certified Nurse Assistant must complete a 75-hour training program, pass a state certification exam, and then register with the state. After that, he or she will be able to work in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and in some cases, hospitals as part of a health care team.

Q. Why does the American Red Cross offer these two programs together?
The dual certification gives you the advantage of being trained for many health care jobs, and increases your chances of getting a job after graduation.

Q. Is financial aid available?
Scholarships may be available depending on funding.

Q. I am on welfare, will welfare help pay for this program?
Possibly. Speak to your case worker about the many resources available to you.
