Heroes One and All: A.L.L. School CD Project to Benefit Local Red CrossWorcester, MA, December 1, 2000 - The Accelerated Learning Laboratory announced today, its sale of a musical compact disk entitled, "The Accelerated Learning Laboratory Salutes Our Firefighters, Heroes One and All." The Accelerated Learning Laboratory, like many other Worcester Public Schools, was affected deeply the evening of December 3, 1999, when six firefighters lost their lives in the Worcester Cold and Storage Building fire. Several staff members and students had personal family ties to the Worcester Fire Department and City Rescue personnel. Those students who had the closest connections to the tragedy came together in support of one another. After several meetings, those same students decided they wanted to give thanks to the community for the support their own families had received in the days and weeks after the fire. The project that the students at the ALL School began almost 10 months ago is now complete. The group has produced a 74-minute musical compact disk to honor and recognize all of our firefighters as our heroes. The compact disk features songs by local musicians as well as poetry written by citizens of Worcester County. The CD's Corporate Sponsor is the Boston Red Sox - The Yawkey Foundation. "We are honored to announce that 100% of the profits from the sale of the compact disk will be donated to the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts-Local Disaster Fund," said Karen Dobson, Co-Chairperson of the project. " The American Red Cross extended a hand that was felt by every person closely involved with the tragedy. Therefore, the project group wants to acknowledge with appreciation the support that the Red Cross gave." The Compact Disk, "The Accelerated Laboratory Salutes Our Firefighters, Heroes One and All," will be released to the public on Friday, December 1, 2000. It will be available for $15.00 at the WSRS Food Bank Drive on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at the Big Y on May Street in Worcester from 9am-7pm.
