Saint Vincent Hospital Contributes $7,500 to Red Cross Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide Training ProgramWorcester, MA, July 7, 2003 — C. Barry Dykes, President and CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center presented a check for $7,500 on July 2, 2003 from the Tenet Health Foundation to Lisa Piehler-Jones, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts. The contribution was made in support of the American Red Cross Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide Training Program. "The impact of contributions made in support of the Nurse Assistant Training and Home Health Aide Training Programs can be seen on the faces of the students at their graduations,” said Piehler-Jones. “These students gain so much more than a graduation certificate – they gain confidence, self-esteem, meaningful employment opportunities and our communities gain skilled, compassionate care-givers.” The grant was made as part of Saint Vincent Hospital’s Community Benefit’s Program. Grants this year totaling $140,000 were awarded to programs addressing affordable housing/basic needs, workforce development and child well being in Central Massachusetts. “Saint Vincent Hospital has been committed to creating healthier lives in our communities for more than 100 years and we are proud to continue that tradition with a gift to the American Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training Program,” said Mr. Dykes.
