American Red Cross Raises Funds for Disaster Relief Nationwide With One of the Largest Online Charity Auctions

MSN to Host the Second National Virtual Auction

Worcester, MA - Starting March 16th, the American Red Cross will host a ten-day, nationwide Virtual Auction to raise funds for disaster relief and other humanitarian services. The auction, hosted and sponsored by MSN, is expected to be the largest charity auction ever held online, with over 1,000 unique and exciting auction items available for bidding from all over the country.

"We are advancing our fund-raising techniques by utilizing the most current technology - the Internet," said Janet Warren, Director of Development at the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts. "By working with MSN we are able to bring together Red Cross Chapters around the country for the important cause of raising funds for disaster relief."

"We are excited to be part of the second American Red Cross online Virtual Auction," said Nicole Valentine, Coordinator of Public Relations for the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts. "We have some very exciting localized items available, including a Ski/Suite package for twelve from Wachusett Mountain and a historical get-a-way to Old Sturbridge Village."

Fifty-four Red Cross Chapters -- from Alaska to Florida, New York to California - and the Red Cross National Headquarters are combining forces for this extraordinary event. Bargain hunters and Red Cross supporters can browse through categories of items ranging from exotic getaways and nights-on-the-town to the latest in high-tech gadgetry, sports memorabilia, celebrity items, fine art, and more. All money raised will support Red Cross disaster relief and other humanitarian services, both nationally and within each participating chapter's jurisdiction.
