Local Red Cross Volunteers Provide Relief at Two Fires Overnight10 Individuals Displaced WORCESTER, January 11, 2001 - Seven Red Cross volunteers responded overnight to two structure fires in Worcester. Ten adults were left homeless as a result of fires located at 20 Falcon Street and 17 Marion Ave. Red Cross volunteers responded to the Marion Ave fire shortly after 10:30 p.m. to provide emergency assistance to 8 adults. Assistance included vouchers for food, clothing and temporary shelter. Red Cross caseworkers will meet with the families today to determine if additional assistance will be required. An additional call for assistance came in early this morning to provide relief to one family (2 adults) who were displaced by a fire at 20 Falcon Street. Red Cross volunteers provided vouchers for food and clothing. The family was able to seek temporary shelter with relatives and will meet with a Red Cross case worker this afternoon to meet their additional needs. These incidents mark the 56th and 57th disasters for the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts since July 1st. To date, emergency relief has been provided to 372 disaster clients.
